More Info:

Penguin Paddling and Hampton’s Landing Marina, off of Neabsco Road in Woodbridge, VA, are teaming up to host a water cleanup event we call “The Penguin Pickup”.

Penguin Paddling, a Kayak and Standup Paddle Board rental and tour outfitter, new to Woodbridge, invites you to join us for a day filled with service, fun, paddling, live music, and fun for the family! Our cleanup is targeting the Julie J. Metz Wetlands, Featherstone National Wildlife Refuge, Potomac River, and Neabsco Creek.

Our goal is to clean up the water for everyone to use! We are offering the use of our fleet of rental kayaks, free of charge, to volunteers working with us as we remove refuse from the waterways. Please join us! We encourage you to bring your own paddle powered boat to help us out. ,We have opportunities for people to participate on and off the water. Please wear clothes and shoes that can get wet/dirty/muddy as we will be working along the shorelines to pick up refuse. While we normally welcome dogs out on our kayaks (we even have doggy PFD’s), we ask that you refrain from bringing them to this event as it will be a working event with a lot of people.

Following the cleanup, we will have live music, food for purchase, fun activities, door prizes and free use of our boats for you to enjoy as a token of our appreciation for helping out! The work will begin at 10am and be completed by 2pm. Following the cleanup work, we will have live music, a Peruvian Chicken Food Truck, and a ton of fun! As our way of saying thank you to those who helped us clean up, we will allow our volunteers the free use of our equipment for the remainder of the afternoon as our way of saying thanks!
